At the wool sales 8865 bales wen offered, including 8023 from New Zealand, and about 1690 were sold. Greasy Merinos consisted chiefly ol spinners' wools. There was a moderate selection of New Zealand crossbreds and a good offering of slipes. Prices were firm. New Zealand greasy crossbreds: Waikura Hid top price, lid average; Black Pakowhat I2jd. Hal I bred: Seven 18d, and I2d; G.M.C., Eclipse finest halibred lambs Hid, Tomoana-Oakleigh, G.F.C.0./Oakleigh A few bales of N.C.F./Kaiapoi made lfid. ftieaey orossbreds ranged from Bgd to 13d. LONDON TALLOW SALES. LONDON, May 38. At the tallow sales, 1697 casks were offered and 88 sold. Fins mutton declined from Is to Is 6d; other sorts 3s to 8s; mutton, One 3Gs 3d, medium 81s; beef, fine 87b, medium 30a 6d. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated May 28th:— Tallow—At the public sales 1695 casks were offered, of which 5 per cent, was sold. Market very depressed in sympathy with other markets. Useless holding further public sales until conditions are better. Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Company are in receipt of the following cablegram from W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, 28th inat.:— . "At tallow auctions to-day 1700 casks were offered, of which 60 casks were sold. Late rates to Is less. Poor demand." The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from Its London office, under date 28th inst. : Tallow —Practically no demand. Nominal quotations: Good mutton Sis 6d to 85s per cwt, good beef 88s to 83s 6d per cwt, good mixed 82s 6d to 83s 6d per. cwt, gut 26s to 29s per cwt.
