A debate between teams from the Junior Labour League and the -Philomath Club was held in the Trades Hall on Tuesday evening. Mr R. M. Mac farlane presided. The subject debated was "That an Unemployment Insurance scheme in New Zealand if durable " The Junior Labour League, represented bv Miss M Cox (leader), Mr W G WrigdewOrth, and Mr S. Robson, took the affirmative. Miss L. Corkill, Mr P. Barnes, and Mr T. Turner (leader) took the negative for the Philomath Club. Mr H. Shaw acted as jndeed, and gave his decision in favour of the negative side by 214 poiats to 186.
