HOSPITAL BOARD.

YESTERDAY'S MEETING

The North Canterbury Hospital Board met yesterday. Present: Mr H. J. Otley (chairman), Mrs T. Green, Mrs E. B. McCombs, Miss E. J. M. Cardale Dr. Stanley P. Foster, Messrs G. Armstrong, J. Boyd, H. R. Davison, L. B. Evans, H. H. Holland, F. Horrell, D. McMillan, F. G. Norton, F. Rowell, J. S. Barpett, A. T. Smith, W. P. Spencer, and W. J. Walter. The matron of the Cheviot Hospital was granted six months' leave of absence to take her Plunket training. Sister Miller was appointed to take charge during her absence. The Hospital Committee reported that in the Venereal Diseases' Department, there had been 1263 attendances, representing 300 patients, 46 ot whom were new. Dr. C. A. Pcmberton reported that at the end of tho month there were three women awaiting admission to the Middle Sanatorium, while there was none waiting to enter the other two. There had been 161 attendants at the dispensary, of whom five were soldiers. Twenty-five were new cases, while eight new cases were notified. The Benevolent Committee's report showed that 494 applications for benevolent assistance, representing 1642 persons, had been dealt with. There had also been eleven applications lor admission to institutions. The reports were adopted.
