He took the watch, intending to inform the manager at the first opportunity, but no opportunity occurred for a "The Magistrate Baid that the accused was old enough and had experience enough to know the consequences of his act. The charge would be dismissed and the property ordered to bo returned to the owner. BREAKING AND ENTERING.

Clifford Hoxinan, labourer, aged 20 years, was charged with breaking and entering by night the counting-house of Clifford James Evans and committting theft, on May Bth. Ho was also charged with breaking and entering by night the couuting-house of Albert Ainsley Kellaway and committing theft on May 34th. C J. Evans, . tobacconist, said that a panel in the door of his shop in Stanmoro road had been broken and a quantity of cigarettes, tobacco, matches, and hair-oil, to the value of about £B, had been stolen. Accused often visited the shop, and knew the lav-out of the premises. Detective R. Thompson said that tobacco and cigarettes had been recovered from a shed at the rear of the house in which the accused lived. Accused made a statement that ho went to Evans's shop with a sack, broke into it at about 3 a.m., and took the goods to a shed behind his house. Accused pleaded guilty to the first charge and was committed to tho Supremo Court for sentence. The second charge was heard before Mr H. A. Young, S.M. A. A. Kellaway, jeweller, of Cathedral square, said that a window in his shop had been smashed and two watches, some gold rings, and some watch-chains had been stolen. Tho total value was about £25. Detective Thompson said that he had recovered tho goods stolen from Hoxman, who made a statement to the effect that he had broken the window of a jeweller s chop with an iron bar. He hud given a watch to a voung man named Guillermo. Hoxman pleaded guilty and was committed io the Supreme Court for sentence. CHARGE DISMISSED.

Kriir-sl Astrup Guillcrmo (Mr E. S. Bowie) v.iui charged with receiving from Clifford Hoxman a watch, valued at £5, the property of Albert Ainsley Kellaway, knowing it to havo been dishonestly obtained. Guillcrmo elected to bo dealt with by a Hoxman, in evidence, said that tho watch was one that ho had stolon. He kept it for about a fortnight, and then gave it to Guillcrmo as a present. Witness told Guillermo that ho had found it. The two had been associated since they were at school together. Guillermo knew that witness had been convicted of dishonesty. Mr Bowie submitted that there was no evidenco to warrant sending the case before (i jury. There was nothing to show that tho accused know that tho watch had been stolen. . . ~ "I think that in this caso no jury would convict," said the Magistrate. "The information is dismissed"
