MAJESTIC THEATRE.
I Colleen Moore appears in her first talkie. "Smiling Irish Eyes," at the Majestio Theatre this week. The cheery face and bewitching personality of Colleen have won her many, admirers in the past in the silent drama, and her popularity will be equally well maintained as a talkie star. In this wonderful drama of Irish life no pains have been spared to get the typical Irish atmosphere, there being an entire absence of the usual Amerrcan features. The reproduction of Irish life end the Irish voice are perfect, and worthy of the highest praise Colleen is the centre of the whole drama, her wonderful personality and self-confidence carrying all before them. Pathos and co. idy are suitably combined in well-balanced pro portions, every actor of a strong cast combining well in a wonderful production. Colleen's simplicity and perfect sincerity are a fine tribute to her first-class acting. Kathleen O'Connor .Colleen Moore) and Rory O'Moore (James Hall) are two village sweethearts living in the heart of the Killarney country, with its wonderful scenery. Julianne Johnson as Rory'B mother is a strong and homely character. ■ while Robert O'Connor and Tim O'Brien between them are responsible for a good deal of humour James Hall as Rory O'Moore sets a high standard of acting, being second only to Colleen. Colleen as a demure little Irish miss is the pick of a fine bunch of actors in a first-class production. A strong supporting programme includes Paramount Sound News, a fine singing item. "The Blacksmiths." a comedy, "Hollywood Bound," and some wonderful selections from the Vincent Lopez orchestra.
