ANGLO-SAXON OIL €O. Orders for £0 twin-scow tank motorships have been placed with British and Continental yards by tho Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company, Ltd. Eight of these vessola are to bo built at yards in the United Kiugdoin, two each at tho respective yards of Messrs ft. and W. Hawthorn, Lcsiid and Co., Ltd.; Messrs Harland and Wolff Ltd., Govan; Messrs Swiid, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, Ltd.; Messrs Workman, Clarke (1928), Lid. Of tho icmuining vessels, eight aro to bo built in Holland by Burgerbout's Shipbuilding; and Engineering Company, Rotterdam, one; lfijenoord Company, Rotterdam, two; Netherlands Shipbuilding Company, Amsterdam, two; P. Smit, Junior, Rotterdam, ono; and Van der Gieson Zonen, Rotterdam, two. Two aro to be built in Germany, ono at tho Deutsche Werke, Kiel, and the other at the Howardtcwerke A.-G., Kiel. Tho remaining vosscl is to bo built in ilaly at tho Cantiere Navale Trlttino, Monfalcone. Tho vessels will be larger than tho tankers at present in servlco for tho Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company, having a deadweight capacity of 11,500 tons each and a length of 450 feet. In each case tho propelling machinery will consist of two sets of six-cylinder four-slroko single-acting engines of tho air injection type. The four Tyne-built vessels and those built on tho Continent will bo fitted with Werkspoor typo engines fitted with tho Werkspoor supercharging system, while the Harland Wolff vossols will bo fitted with Harland B. and W. supercharged machinery, and supercharged engines for tho Workman, Clark vessels will bo supplied by tho North-Eastcrn Marino Engineering Company, Ltd.
