WOMEN'S REST ROOM.

PROPOSAL TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY.* The City Council is considering the purchase of the property in Cathedral square at present occupied by Messrs Lougbnan and Izard, and others, from Mr G. Sevick© Jones for the purpose of a women's rest room. The Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer) and Cr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., yesterday at Wellington consulted witli the Hon. H. Atmore (acting for the Postmaster- i General, Sir Joseph Ward) relative to a wide iane that runs between the building, part of which belongs to the Post and Telegraph Department. It is desired that the Department should give an undertaking not to build on the land which, it is hoped, will be declared a right-of-way. The building will comprise a restroom, conveniences, parcels' office, and, possibly, a creche. The price asked for the building is about £II,OOO.
