♦_ — REDPATH CUP. AWARD MADE TO DEMPSTER. Last evening, the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council met to consider, amongst other things, the question of the player to whom the Bedpath Cnp should be awarded this season. After a short discussion, which was taken in committee, the chairman (Mr A. T. Donnelly) announced that it had been decided that the recipient for the 1029-30 season would be C. S. Dempster, of Wellington. • • „. The cup, which is awarded annually to the batsman with the best record in representative and Test matches, haß now been competed for during ten seasons, and this is the second occasion that it has been awarded to Dempster, who also received the cnp in the 192728 season. Other players who have secured the trophy on two occasions are J. S. Hiddleston; (Wellington), and B. C. Blunt (Canterbury and Otago). Although Dempster did not head the batting averages in representative cricket this season—the premier position being filled by N. Dorreen (Canterbury), who, however, took part in only one Plunket Shield fixture—his performances were really excellent this year. He took part in ten innings, eight of which were against the M.C.C. team, and securing four not-outs, scored an average of 93.66 runs per innings. His highest score was 141 not out, and his seasonal aggregate in representative cricket 562 runs. His batting average in the eight innings he played against the M.C.C. team was 82.20. The Bedpath Cup, which was presented in 1920, by Mr David Bedpath, has now been won as follows: — 1920-21, A. Anthony (Auckland). 1921-22, J. 8. Hiddleston (Wellington). 1922-23, B. C. Blunt (Canterbury). 1923-24, J. a Hiddleston (Wellington). 1924-25, B. de B. Worker (Wellington). 1925-26, 0. P. W. Allcott (Auckland). 1926-27, B. C. Blunt (Otago). 1927-28, C. S. Dempster (Wellington). 1928-29, G. L. Weir (Auckland). 1929-30, C. S. Dempster (Wellington).
