'" It is not expected that there will be much further delay in connexion With the completion of the work of the Education Committee of the House of Representatives,, winch has taken voluminous evidence throughout tho' 'Dominion in regard to the proposed overhaul of the education system. ! , In reply tib. a question to-day, the Minister-tor Education (the Hon. H;. Aimore) said 'that 'meetings of the committee, had been held up pending the transcription of the' shorthand notes of the examination of -witnesses. That work had now been completed; and Mr Atmore said he; hoped ±o, call the committee together shortly -to, consider the final report. Evidence had yet to be heard from the New. Zealand . Institute, which wished >fo mak6 certain representations, and after that had been done the preparation of the report eould Ije proceeded with ?■■ Mr Atmore said lie anticipated that the greater .part of the recommendations of.the committee could be given effect to hy Departmental regulation without the necessity .for drafting legislation:
