Nearly one hundred families dashed from their homes clad in their night elothes when a fire occurred in a Walthamstow factory. Terrified mothers wrapped their children in blankets and rushed with them to safety in the streets. • * w * The flames were accompanied oy a series of alarming explosions, which were heard for miles around. These were caused by the bursting of a petrol tank. Pieces of timber flew high in tne air. Several people narrowly escaped injury. Thousands of gallons of water were poured on the building, but without avail, and it was burnt to the grotond in less than an hour.
