GOODWILL TOUR.

WEST COAST AND GLACIERS ITINERARY COMPLETED. For the purpose of meeting members of Chambers of Commerce, Progress Leagues, and similar organisations, the Railway Department, in co-operation with the Canterbury Progress League, has arranged a business men's goodwill tour of West Coast towns, commencing on Monday, May 12th, and finishing on the following Saturday. The estimated total cost, including rail and motor fares, hotel expenses, and lunches, is £6 19s lOd. It is proposed that the party shall leave Christchurch by train on Monday, arriving in the evening at Hokitika, where a meeting will be held. The following day Kokatahi and Koiterangi Valleys will be visited, as well as Lake Kanicri, and the party will leave for Greymouth, to arrive there that evening. On Wednesday various places of interest in Greymouth will be visited, and in the evening a meeting will be held. Leaving the following morning, the party will proceed by the new coastwise road to Westpoft. The Denniston mine and other places of interest will be visited on Friday, and there will be a meeting in the evening. The party will motor to Beefton on Saturday morning, and, connecting with the train, will arrive in Christchurch that evening. In conjunction with the business men's tour the Eailway Department has organised a pleasure trip to the West Coast, embracing the glacial districts. In this instance the cost will be higher than the first excursion, being estimated at £8 Bs, this being inclusive of rail and motor fares, hotel tariff, lunches, and guide fees. This party will travel to Hokitika with the business men's party, but will leave by motor on the following day for the glaciers, half of them going to the Fox and half to the Franz Josef, where they will remain til l Thursday. The Franz Josef party will then go to the Fox glacier and the jmrty from the Fox will transfor to the Franz Josef, both of them returning to Hokitika on Friday evening and to Christchurch on Saturday.
