ABSCONDER'S BAIL.
PLEA FOR ESTREATMEtfT. An application for the ostreatment of bail was made in the Supremo Court, Timaru, yesterday in the oaae of George Aitken King, who has absconded. When King was called on Tuesday to answer a charge of obtaining £3B 10s by false pretences from a prominent citizen of Waimate he did not appear, and it was stated that he had left the country. »He was on bail in self £l6O and one surety of £l5O. The Grown Prosecutor (Mr w. !>• Campbell) applied for bail to be estreated. Mr J. Enielie, who appeared to show cause, stated that he had practically arranged with Mr Campbell to have the matter held over until the next sessions. As soon as the bondsman heard that King had disappeared he took out a warrant for his arreat, The police might bo able to do something by next session, said Mr Bmslie. His Honour, Mr Justice Adams: I do not know that I have much discretion, Is Mr Campbell desirous of going on with the application P Mr Campbell Baid that he would agree to the application being held over until next session. TTiO application was adjourned.
