Mrs Roberts (North Canterbury) is spending a few weeks in Christchurch, and is staying at Mrs O. T. J. Alpers s house at Fendalton. during Mrs Alpers's absence in Wellington. Miss Lois Talbot (Auckland) is visiting her -aunts, the Misses Gibson, "Rangi-ruru." Miss Betty Keeffe (Lake Coleridge), who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis in the Lewishnm Hospital. is recovering satisfactorily, and is expected homo this week. Miss Doris Manson (Dunedin) is spending a few weeks with her relatives, Mr and Mrs W. Manson, or Rangiom. Mr and Mrs A. B. Couch (Sydney), and Mr and Mrs Black (Alexandra) are recent arrivals at the United Service Hotel. Mr and Mrs A. W. Yarrall (Hokitika). Mr and Mrs H. Akers, and the Misses J. and M. Akers (Palmerston North). Mr and Mrs H. Burrows, (Feilding), and Mr and Mrs A. ». Fleming (Gore) are guests at Warner s Hotel.

Mrs A. E. Flower (Christ's College) is spending a short holiday in Hawk© s Bay. Miss Rachel Wauchop (Gisborne) is the guest of her aunt. Mis Meg Yvauchop (Lichfield street). The closing of the boating season on Saturday will be followea by a flannel dance in the boathouse of tne Avon Rowing Club. Seymour's Band will supply the music. The committee in charge of the arrangements are Messrs F. Agassiz, H. J. Brixton, C. R. Kellv. H. Lanauzc, A. Woodham, and R. *F. Batchelor (hon. secretary).

Mr W. H. Price left last night to take up his duties as manager of the Union Steam Ship Company in Wellington. Mrs Price and Miss Kathleen Price are remaining in Christchurch for the present. Miss Greta Clarkson, who has been for a year in Wanganui, is now visiting Invercargill and will return 'to Christchurch at the end of next week. Mr and Mrs W. T. Ritchie (Blenheim), Mr and Mrs C. T. Elliot (Westport), Mr and Mrs J. B. Richards and Mr and Mrs E. B. Robertson (Stratford), and Mrs Riddle (Eltham) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel.

Mrs D. Buddo baa returned to Christchuich from a visit to Hawke s Bay.

Mrs F. Keast and Miss N._ Keast were the hostesses at a "kitchen party given at Lincoln in honour of Miss N. Watkins, who is shortly to be married. A very enjoyable time was spent, and the guest of honour was the recipient of many useful presents. Items were contributed by the Misses R. and G. Dulieu, and N. Keast.
