HALF-YEARLY MEETING.

BUSINESS TO BE DONE.

The half-yearly meeting of the South Island Motor Union will be held in Christchurcb to-day. commencing at 11 a.m.

The following remits are to be considered :

(a) North Otago M.A- —"That a uniform fee at An increased. rate be fised. for non members using South Island camping places." (b) South Canterbury A.A. — That major road traffic should have preference over minor road traffic." Other business to be dealt with includes : Consideration of tlie report of a committee regarding the best system of marking road routes. (Mr W. L. Minson.) Consideration of the report of a. committee regarding the question of making provision for outside signs on official hotels. (Mr J. S. Hawkes.) Report of a committee regarding the oonference in connexion with the proposed amendments to regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act. (Mr F. W. Johnston.) The following remits from Dr. Gibbs, of Nelson, have been sent too late to be dealt with, as such will come up for consideration under the heading of correspondence (1) That authority should be granted to local bodies to make weekly, monthly, or annual charges for tn© use of public narking places. (2) That statutory authority should be provided to allow local bodies to purchase property for the provision of parking places.
