CANTERBURY RESIDENT'S SHARE. EXPECTATION OF £60,000. A reasonable expectation of a legaey of £6o,ooo—part of a fortune of £15,000,000 to £19,000,000 amassed by an Irishman in America—is entertained by a Springston resident, Mr John Watson, who conducts a travelling drapery business.

In January last, Mr Watson read in an English newspaper an account of a huge fortune left by John Andrews, who, as a young man, left Ireland to go ,to America, and died without wife or family to inherit the riches ne had made out of copper. The newspaper account revealed that the money had been hold in trust by the United States Government, which, at intervals, sought claimants through adverthements.

Later, a letter from relatives overseas informed Mr Watson that the multi-millionaire was his grand-uncle. It waa repealed that over three years ago a nephew of the millionaire noticed one of these advertisements, and after a lengthy lawsuit established the claim of his family over the claims of hundreds of others. Among the large number of nephews and nieces to share the money was Mr J. Watson's father, who has died, leaving his portion, stated to be about £1,000,000, to Mr Watson's mother. The Canterbury resident expects to receive about £60,000 through an aunt, a beneficiary of the estate, who died intestate. Mr and Mrs Watson and family expect to leavo shortly for Ireland, They have not yet received any of the money although they are confident in the worth of their claim.
