FOOTBALL.
RUGBY LEAGUE. RICCARTON CLUB. The second annual meeting of the Riccar* ton Rugby League Football Club was held m the iticoartou Town Hall last evening, Mr L. Cox presiding over a large attendance. A vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Master L. Marra. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that from one team the club had grown to a membership of nearly 10°. with five teams playing in the Rugby League competitions. Thanks were expressed in the report to the Wharenui School Committee for the use of th« sohool playground for the club's "home" matches, and hopes were expressed that the Borough Council would shortly provide a sports ground for the boys of the district. Appreciation was recorded of* the efforts of the Social Committee in run-, ning fortnightly dances,' enabling the purchase of two sets of jerseys for the schoolboy members. Teams were entered in the third, fourth, seventh (two), and schoolboy grades. The third grade were runners-up in the knock-out competition, while the seventh grade, composed mostly of the original players, won both the competition and the knock-out. Hansen, W. Burgess, B. Thompson, G. Hanham, M. Morton, T. Vogan, R. Staples, E. Neale, Collins, W. Woods, A. E. Marriott, Clarke, A. Cox, H. Papps, J. McQuillan, H. Bell, V. E. Dockery, A. T. Hancock, D. Harvey, P. Cramp: club captain, Mr P. Lloyd; secretary and- treasurer, Mr A. Thojapson; delegate to Junior Management Committee, Mr A. Thompson; Management Committee, Messrs S. M. Richardson, L. Cox, A. Cox, F. Sanders, T. Williams; auditor, Mr 0. G. Derfrett. Opening day was arranged for April sth. A number of new members were elected. Mr M. G. Morton gave a gold medal to be allotted by the committee.
