AMUSEMENTS.

majestic theatre. A picture of remarkable power, "The Sky Hawk," is drawing the crowds to the Majestic Theatre. All those remarkable things which are performed in the air by' the young Air Force trainees are, in local opinion, really done by them, and not "faked" by & clever camera The battle towards the end of the picture, when an aeroplane engage# a raiding Zeppelin in combat over London, was really staged over the Cali/ornian countryside when the Fox M.ovietone Company were producing "The Sky Hawk." The story is from ono by Guy Fowler, "The Chap Named Bardell," in which John Garrick plays the lead. • "THE ISLE OF LOST SHIPS." THRILLING TALKIB D.RAMA. One of the most unusual, and, at the same time, thoroughly entertaining, talking picture produced in Hollywood last year will be at the Majestic Theatre , next week, namely, "The Isle of Lost Ships," from the story of the same namo by Crittenden Marriott, a highly imaginative story based on scientific fact. According to legend, and now accepted by the world of science, there is an area in the North Atlantic known as the SargaßßO Sea, which, extending for hundreds of miles, is choked with Beaweed, mak ing navigation impossible, and to which all the wrecks and derelicts of the Atlantic gravitate. For the purpose of the etory of "The of Lost Ships," the author of the Btory illumed that parts of this remark able area are inhabitatod, and he weaves a romance around this contention that is one of the most exciting "adventure" stories ever written. Right off the beaten track, different from any other picture, quite without a trace of the artificialities and affectations which mar so many films, "The Isle of Lost Ships," as a piece of entertainment possesses attributes which cannot but make an appeal to a wide audience. It has all the thrills of more conventional film fare; it has what is succinctly known as "human interest," and it is a revelation in photography and sound reproduction. In the leading roles are Virginia Valli, Jason Robards, Robert O'Connor, and Noah Beery, besides fifty-two supers who act the parts of the castaways on the Sargasso. The re production of what the Sargasso is assumed to look like is a monument to the patience, knowledge, and skill of the producers; indeed, the entire production is a distinct credit to the new Hollywood, technique, both in action and in sound. . The box plans are now at The Bristol Piano Company, where seats may bo reserved.
