BRITAIN'S DEBT BURDEN.
COST OF WAR PENSIONS

RUGBY, February 23. An abstract account of the Consolidated Fund, published by the Treasury, shows that Britain's £1,000,000 per day debt burden last year includes an interest payment of £310.000,000, management and expenses £1,400.000. and new Sinking Fund £57,000,000 Other' figures included in the account show that the cost of war pensions last year declined by £3,000,000 to £57,000.000. There are still over 1,476,000 persons receiving pensions and allowances. Since the Ministry of Pensions was established the total expenditure on war pensions and administration has exceeded £845,000,000.
