Tvo Aerodromes, jut Aero Clubs have difficulty in yj, g an aerodrome, but the MarlLmT Aero ciuij has the unique disSa of posses^"g two of them, cornet iujars. One is the property of Lgmlttini municipality, which esthe first municipal aerodrome ittofioathern Hemisphere,,-awa.y back jIML The other, which is lease'd by to {}„]) for training purposes, is the tuni Woodbourne field, from which k Southern Cross took ofE on her higBi« Jjght from Blenheim to Sydney, ii probably the largest aerodrome

in New Zealand, and will be the venue of the Marlborough Air Pageant next week. Jt is situated, visiting pilots might note, exactly four miles due west of Blenheim, and is well marked with a huge landing ring, containing the name ''Woodbourne." Forthcoming Pageant. A unique event at the Marlborough Air Pageant next week will be a zero hour competition. "Zero hour" has been fixed at 3.45 p.m. on Friday, February 21st, the day prior to the pageant, and visiting pilots are desired so to plan their flights from any part of New Zealand that they will reach the aerodrome as near that hour as possible. A trophy will be awarded to the pilot landing closest to "zero hour." CHECK OVER THE TYRES. Aside from watching that tyres have the proper air pressure, they should be inspected for bruises and cuts, and for foreign objects that might have become embedded in the rubber. In looking a tyre over carefully one will find nails, stones, pieces of glass, and many other objects Bometimes so deep in tho rubber that they are practically bidden, and to leave them there simply means that they work deeper and deeper, until they reach the fabric.' Wnter, sand, and gravel will enter the cut, rot the fabric, or cause mud blisters, and the tyre's life is ended before it has given part of tho service for which it is intended. If foreign substances, are removed from the tyre with a blunt-instrument, probably a screw-driver that has no> sharp edge, the cuts cleaned out with petrol, so as to remove all dust and dirt, and then filled with tyre cement, tho life of the tyre will be considerably prolonged. ' If tyres are over-inflated their walls are likely to puncture in striking sharp stones or other obstacles. If their pressure is too low they make steering difficult and wear out much soonor than if pressure is right.
