The North Canterbury District Executive of the Women's Christian Temperance Union met on Wednesday in the W.C.T.U. rooms. Mrs Richards presided, and welcomed representatives from twelve adult and three "Y" Unions. .. The question of publicity was fn'ly , discussed, and a sub-committee nominated to collect facts and figures, Mrs Lowery being appointed convener. . , Miss Blackwell reported, as superintendent of outlying districts, that thirty-one circular letters had been sent to Unions in the district, and encouraging answers Tfj ceived and superintendents appointed. * work was discussed, and Mrs Swanston was elected to represent the executive on the "Y" special committee. Satisfactory reports were received regarding the'- garden party held recently m the grounds of Mrs T. E. Taylor. It was decided to forward remits to tne Dominion Convention on the question ot widows' and invalid pensions. _. Mrs Richards will represent the District W.C.T.U. at the Dominion Convention to be held at Timaru in March.
