School Picnic. A party of 400 from tho Spreydon school held their annual picnic at Corsair Bay yesterday. The weather was very hot, and bathing was freely indulged in. Magistrate's Court. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Thomas Clark,, an elderly man, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. Clark was also charged with being iu arrears to . the extent of £193 12s on a maintenance order for the maintenance of his fiv» children in a receiving homo. Sergeant W. 11. Dunlop said a warrant had been issued for' tho arrest of Clark nearly seven years ago, but he had evaded the police until arrested by Constable T. Mannix on Wednesday. He asked for a remand to Christchurcli. Accused was accordingly remanded to appear at Christcburch today Harbour Light Theatre. "Get Your Man," featuring Clara Bow, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night. To-morrow, "Kit Carson," starring Fred Thompson, will be screened. In tho vaudeville part of the programme Frank Andrews, comedian and trick pianist, will appear, and with liim is Phyllis Andrews, a clever child soubrette and dancer. Miss Myra Sutton will be heard in songs, and Jock Lockhart, Scottish comedian, will ap- j pear in song and patter. Frank and Phyllig Andrews will appear at the matinee, as well as at the evening session. S.P.C.A. A meeting, convened by the ltev. H. Nortlicote and Mr J. O. Jamieson, members of the Christchurcli Society for the Prevent tion of Cruelty to Animals, and Mrs Millington, lady organiser, was held in the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon for the purpose of forming a Junior League in Lyttelton. There were also present the Mayor (Mr W. T. Foster), Mrs Foster, and Mr J. R. Wilson, headmaster of the Lyttelton District High School. Owing to the lack of attendance an informal discussion was held, and it was decided to enrol junior members and to issue badges.
