SHIPPING NOTES. The Westmoreland arrived yesterday morning from Wellington to load fpr Home. She ia to sail to-morrow for Dunedin. The Kuku is to sail to-night with cargo for Wellington direct. The Karetu should arrive to day from Dunedin. She will discharge Sydney cargo and load for that port, sailing to-morrow, ria Timaru and Bluff. The Kurow is expected to-day from Portland and Wellington with cement. The Waipahi is duo on Sunday from Clbborne with sheep. She sails for Dunedin, and is expected back about Wednesday to load for Napier and Gisbornc. The Opihi ia timed to load here on Wednesday for Nelson and New Plymouth. The Waipiata is due from Timaru on Tuesday to load for Auckland. Tho Opawa is due on Sunday from Blenheim, and loads on Monday for the return trip. The Cygnet should arrive here to-morrow night from Kaikoura and Wellington, and loads on Monday for the return trip.

The Foxton is due on Sunday from the north, and loads on Monday for Foxton direct. Tho Brcezo should arrive on Sunday from Wellington, and load* on Monday for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. She is due back on Friday, and sails the same day with cargo for Wellington and Wanganui. Tho Calm is expected on Sunday from the south, and londs on Monday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Gale is due from Timaru on Tuesday to take in cargo for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Orepuki is due to-morrow from Tarakohe, and will load hero for Nelson, Westport, and Groymouth. The John is timed to load here to-morrow for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waikato. "

The Canndian Challenger is due here on February 22nd from Timaru to discharge and lond. She is to sail on February 2'4th for Wellington. Captain C. J. Hackworth has been appointed to command of the Opihi. Captain G. W. Go4frey has resumed command of the Kahika.' Messrs L. Gillan and It. D. Stewart have joined the Otokia as chief and third officers respectively, relieving Messrs W. E. Jones and D. 0. Champion for holiday leave.

Mr A. E. Rawlins has joined the Karepo as chief officer, relieving Mr J. 8. Beaton for Instructions.

Mr A. W. Pert hat relieved Mr S. A. Smith, second officer of tho Maunganui, for further orders.

Mr A. H. Morgan has been appointed fourth officer of the Tahiti, vice Mr J. K. Inglis, who is awaiting instructions.
