POLICE FOR SAMOA.
METHOD OP APPOINTMENT. (PBESS ASSOCIATION' TZLEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, February 12. The Auckland Upturned Soldiers' Association is protesting strongly against the method of appointing members of the Samoan military police. The Association says the age limit debars most returned soldiers. It understand? that ft number of members of the permanent defence force are being chosen for Samoa and contends that returned men, particularly if unemployed, should Jiave preference.

Although no official announcement has been made, a number pf pfficpr§ of the New Zealand gtaflF Copps received orders to hols themselves in readiness for service in Samoa with the special force of £SO military polipe which the Government is getting ready to dispatch if required. It is stated that Major N. W. McD. Weir, Staff officer in charge No. 5 regimental diistrict, will nommand the force, with Captain Q. Dittmer. M.C., of Paeroa, second in command.
