ROAD WORKS.
PROGRESS OF RECONSTRUCTION The portions of the Main -Nortji road, bevond the Waimakann, winch are being reconstructed, are in tfie following stages:— „ nrt Between Waimakarin Bridge ana Kaiapoi:—Mr T. Pheloung the contractor, has almost finished this stretch, which is being laid in Fortland cement concrete. When pleted it will be about a month before the road will be thrown open to Kaiapoi-Woodend: Road Constructors, Ltd., the contractors, have about 30 chains to complete. It is probable that it will be six weeks before tms stretch, which is being paved m Portland cement, concrete, will be open tor tr&ffic Woodend-Ashley: The contractors, British Pavements (Canterbury), k«*-> are about ready to start laying bituminous concrete paying, starting from near the Ashley bridge.
