BANANAS DUMPED IN SEA.
ACTION BY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. (PBSS* ASSOCIATION TILSORA.M.) AUCKLAND, February 12. Four hundred cases of bananas from Norfolk Island, delivery of which was refused by the merchants to whom they were consigned, were dumped in the sea beyond Raneitoto Reef by a Harbour Board launch to-day. The merchants alleged that the fruit had been ruined on the journey from Norfolk Island on the Maui Pomare. The Health Department served notice on the Harbour Board to remove the bananas from the wharf shed and the Board complied.. It intends to send the bill to whomever the Court finds responsible in the civil case pending.
