WOOL SALE.

A GOOD CLEARANCE.

IMPROVEMENT IN GOOD WOOLS.

The third of the current series of Christcliurch wool sales, which commenced in the Caledonian Hall on Tuesday night, was resumed yesterday Illuming a lid concluded at mid-day. Tho improvement in the market recurtled 011 Tuesday was fully maintained thioughout yesterday's offerings. All good classes of tine halfbred and crossbred ke;)t at a level ol about a halfpenny per lb 011 the rates recorded at Tiwaru, whilst medium grades and pieces maintained the best of the Tanaru values with a hardening tendency. As showing the desire tor wool tlie present levels, the actual passings over the whole catalogue did not exceed 7 per cent., but withdrawals prior to the sale increased the unsoKt proportion to about 10 per cent. Another satisfactory feature was that the wool was souglij. alter by a larger buying circle. At tho first auction, particularly, the strength of the market depended 011 one or two Continental buyers, aided by an Australian operator and local mills. But for their activity it is certain that prices 011 that occaKioit would not have been so satisfactory. On tho present occasion the principal of these operators was scarcely in the market. Local mills also bought sparingly compared to what they did at the preceding sales, but there was greatly increased activity 011 the part of Bradford, which quarter was the main factor at tho present sale. America and Australia were also prominent, but French buying was much reduced and German operations were also less noticeable. Though there was very keen competition, buyers showed little disposition to stretch their limits.
