YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS. Markets were buoyant on call yesterday, and there was a large turnover, bank stocks being especially active. Commercial Bank of Australia on an active market were dealt in at 23s lOd and 23s Bd, and more were offered at 23s Bd, buyers at 23s 7d—the "rights" had dealings at 2s 4d, closing quotations 2s 2d buyers, 2s 5d sellers. National Bank of New Zealand shares were firm with dealings at £6 ss, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at £6 3s 6d. New Zealand Refrigerating 10s paid shares advanced to 5s 4d, and more were wanted at that figure, sellers at 5s sd. New Zealand Breweries were firm at 84s, closing quotations 3d on either side. Tooths Brewery buyers raised their bids to 41s without attracting sellers. British Tobaccos were taken at 435, and more were offered at that figure, buyers- at 42s lOd. Colonial Sugars advanced to £44, market closing £44 buyers, £44 10s sellers. Mount Lyells had dealings at 35s lid, 35s lOd, and 365, closing quotations 36s sellers, 35s lOd buyers. ASHBURTON STOCK SALE. A large entry of both fat and store sheepwas yarded at the Aahburton yarda yesterday. Ewet comprised the majority of the fata, while the lambs claimed most attention among the stores. . Prices generally were on a par with those of last week. The fat ewe market was topped by a pen of five, which brought 28s lOd on account of Cochrane Broa., Elgin. The highest price obtained for fat wothera was 32s 6d for a pen of seven sold on account of W. G. Stephens, Eiffelton. The highest figure realised in the store sheep market was 30s for a pen of 89 wellbred Romney cross ewes. Two head of cattle were sold, a fat cow bringing £ll 10s and a store heifer £3.
