Mrs G. Webster (Nelson terrace), who has been the guest of Mrs G. Murray C'Braemar"), has returned home. Mrs J- Priest (Trafalgar street) is visiting North Canterbury. Mr and Mrs N. Brodick (Invercargill) are staying at "Cadogan," Sefton street. Miss K. Gresson (Christchureh) is th<3 guest of Mrs C. 11. Gresson (Selwyn street). Mr and Mrs J. E. Triggs (Christchurch) have returned from a visit to Mrs Jones (Beverley road). Mr and Mrs W. N. Bond ("Dunrobin" Southland), who have been staying with Mrs Elworthy ("Pareora Cottage," le Cren's terrace), returned home on Saturday. Mr and Mrs P. Hawkes (Melbourne) are guests at the Dominion Hotel. Passengers to The Hermitage, Mount Cook, on Saturday, included Mr and Mrs Webster, Mr and Mrs P. Hawkes (Melbourne), and Mesdames Bland and Holder.

DOUBLE WEDDING. beaven—hood. McMillan—hood. A double wedding which created considerable interest in the LinwoSd district was solemnised in St. George's Presbyterian Church, Linwood, on New Year's Day, when Mildred Jean, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Hood, of Linwood, was married to Frederick Charles Beaven, eldest .son of Mr an<l the late Mrs H. T. Beaven. of Waiau, and Hilda Maud, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Hood, was married to Alexander Neil McMillan son of the late Mr and Mrs D. McMillan, of Burke's Pass. The Rev. John Newland, of Waiau, officiated, and Mr Reginald Walsh was organist . The brides, who were given away by their father and uncle respectively, wore dainty frocks of ivory satin and silver lace with beautifully embroidered tulle veils forming trains. Each carried a bouquet of summer flowersThe bridesmaids attending Miss Mildred Hood, of Waiau, were Miss Harriet Adelaide Beaven and Miss Elizabeth Kitto, of Christchurch. Botti wore charming, frocks of pink georgette with champagne lace and coatees to match and eacli carried a bouquet of pale pink and blue flowers. Miss Hilda Hood was attended by Miss Myra Tullv of Christchurch, and Miss Nora Riddick. of Wellington, as bridesmaids. Both wore becoming long-sleeved frocks of delphinium blue georgette cut in classical lines and picture hats to match. Mr Frederick Charles Beaven was attended by Mr George S. Beaven as best man, and by Mr Alfred Beaven as gromsman, while Mr Donald McDonald acted as best man and Mr Donald Hood as groomsman for Mr Alexander Neil McMillan. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Canberra Hall, where Mrs Hood received her guests wearing a handsome dress made of beige silk. The usual toasts were honoured, after which the happy couples left for their wedding tours.

WEDDINGS.

JORDAN—NEWPORT,

A protty evening wedding was celebrated at the Oxford Methodist Church recently, when Enid Geraldine, youngest daughter of Mr L. Newport, Oxford, was married to Edward H. C. Jordan, only son of Mr and Mrs E. W. Jordan, also of Oxford. . The Eev. C. W. Brown officiated and Mr Comyns was organist. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr A. Newport, of Eedcliffs, wore a beautiful gown of shellpink lace, mad-3 with a short cape and full skirt, draped to one side, and caught with a brilliant ornament. Her tulle veil was scalloped and embroidered in pink, and she carrried a bouquet of pink and white lilies. The two bridesmaids were Miss Nancy White, of Riccarton, who wore a pretty frock of heliotrope embroidered net over satin, and Miss Froda Jordan, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a frock of eau de nil georgette, with cape collar and flared skirt. Both carried bouquets of hothouse flowers. Marigold Campbell, niece of the bride, made a charming little flower-girl, wearing a dress of green georgette, with frilled skirt, and carrying a posy of marigolds and fuchsias. Mr Cecil Fowler (Dunedin) was best man, and Mr H.' Cederman (Oxford) was groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with silver horse-shO'3s by two small nephews, Mervyn Campbell and Ivan Newport. Later Mr and Mrs Jordan left by motor for a tour of the Southern Lakes.

PARTY AT SUMNER. In honour of Miss Daisy Lamb, whose marriage will shortly take place, a delightful evening party was given at Sumner by Misses Tessie and Helena Keane. Miss Lamb was the recipient of many useful gifts. The evening was spent in games and dancing. A novel event of the evening was a treasure hunt on the beach and hills, which was won by Miss Flora Sutherland. Those present were Misses Flora Sutherland, D. Lamb, T Keane, H. Keane, M. O'Shaughnessy, D. Jones, O Marker, J. Jamieson, H. Moffat, M. Petrie, M Sutherland, J. Jemn, F. Sutherland, Messrs A. Marker, G. Petrie, F. Bowes, A. Smith, C. Parlane, and R. Banks.

WINTER GARDEN CABARET.

In spite i>f the warm weather, 250 dancers attended the Winter Garden Cabaret dance on Saturday evening. The supper tables were decorated with roses and carnations, and the lounges with shrubs and palms. A spirited programme of music was supplied by the Bailey-Marston Orchestra.
