METHVEN. The following are the meteorological observations for the past month aa recorded by Mr James Carr, "Kudston," Methven: —Bain fell on 18 days, the maximum fall recorded being 112 points on the 23rd. The total for the month was 6.68 inches, compared with 8.17 for December last. The total for the year was 40.68 inches. For 1928 the total rainfall was 42.02 inches. The fall for each month during 1929 was:—January 3.42, February 0.21, March 3.42, April 2.51, May 1.28, June 4.75, July 6.39, August 4.20, September 4.67, October 0.87, November 2.31, December 6.68. The average rainfall during the past twenty years is 39.05 inches, the past two years bringing the average np. The highest recording of the barometer during the month was 29.98 on the 3rd, and the lowest 29.14 on the 23rd. It is remarkable that the barometer never reached 30 during the month. The highest reading of the maximum thermometer was 80 on the 12th, and the lowest minimum was 38 on the 19th. The lowest reading on the grass was 23 on the 10th.
