TRAMWAY REVENUE.
♦ EXCURSIONS WELL PATRONISED Tramway revenue for January 2nd, this year, is £llO below the cash takings on the same day last year, but the decrease is due to the issue of more concussion cards than formerly owing to tne drop in price. Tho average concession daily sales exceeded last year's takings by £l2B, so that if the average figures are added to this amount, it will be seen that the Tramway Board has dona well financially this year. The actual figures are as follows: Last year, cash takings ... £1,128 This year, cash takings ... £l,OlB Decrease ... ... ... £llO Seaside Excursions. Yesterday the special rates for seaside excursions came into force, and thousands took advantage of the cheap fares and made the most of the hot, sunny weather. All the morning and again in the afternoon, trams for Sumner and New Brighton were packed_ with excursionists. The Cashmere Hills, also, attracted large numbers of trampers and picnickers.
