HEATHCOTE NEWS.
After a severe and painful illness over a period of twelve years, the death occurred in the Ohristchurch Hospital last week of Mr James Thomas Hay, in his 55th year. Born in Asting, Shetland Isles, in 1875, Mr Hay came to New Zealand twenty years ago, and settled in Heathcote Valley about four years later, making many friends. In the earlier years of his life he was a seafaring man. but later was employed on the railway. He leaves a widow and two children (Tom and Jessie). The funeral, which took place at the Bromley Cemetery, was well attended, the service being conducted by the Rev. A. McDowel! and Pastor Read. The pall-bearers were Messrs W. Cogle, G. Hay, G. TullocU, and F. King. Wreaths were sent by the Methodist Church the Heathcote Tennis Chib. the Henthcote Club. Casual Railway Workers, v-ife Tom, and Jessie.
