—♦ — 1 MAORI TO MAKE EXCI KSION I TRIP. J Tli" Union Steam Sliip Company have been running excursions between Wellington :ind Picton on Boxing Day ;ind Now Year*-. Day tor some years past, ami these have proved very popular with the Wellington public. They now propose to resume the excursions from Lytt.elton to Akaroa. which, in pre-war rears, were popular here. The turbine steamer Maori is to leave Lvtt.lton on arrival of the 8.IV) a.m. train to-morrow, when the annual repatta is be ins held. Aknini bus many tine walks. After leaviii-i the >rii>li»ri' the town runs into three valleys: Grelmn Valley at the north end. Halguerie Valhy in the ceritr.', and Aylmer'- Valley at the south end. Ka'-h has its ereek and winding road, its giirdi'in, hedges, and tree«. and, hcvind, the farm lands. The Maori will arrive hack "n Lytteltin about 0.30 p.m. Afternoon tea anu soft drinks will be obtainable on board.
