PERKINS EQUALS TRACK RECORD. Hiding brilliantly, Syd. Perkins, of the Wentworth Oval Speedway, Sydney, thrilled the thousands of spectators who were present at the Monica Park Speedway on Saturday night by equalling the milo track record of lruin 31aec established some week* ago by W. Stipcwich, of Newcastle. Perkins's performance, however, was more meritorious than that of h)3 compatriot in that, while the latter had a clear track upon which to ride, Perkins had to race against two other competitors. Another thrill was provided when Perkina and C Perabo met in the epecial match race of one mile. The latter, who is also an Australian, gave his opponent the rate of his career. First one would b»in a slight lead and then the other would paua him, the race being in doubt till it was over, Perkins winning by the narrowest of margins. Both men provided an object lesson in eliding round the bends and never looked like being unstated, the raco representing- broadsidmg at its best. The local riders are improving with ©very appearance and provided some excellent displays. There were few spills during the meeting, which was favoured with a mild evoning.

In a special challenge race of one mil© between F. Sharman and E. Pyko for the right to meet J. Carter for the gold Bash on Saturdav night, Sharman won easily. Pyke'o mount failing him, as a result oi which he did not finish. The mile was accomplished in lmin 40sec. 1?. Sharman made an attempt to beat tho track record of a mile (lmin 31nec) held by W.
