The port was fairly busy yesterday, but there was a marked shortage of labour. The Falsterbo was Bhort manned while the C. and D. liner Port Campbell remained idle all day fcr want of labour. Trucks were plentiful. The Kurow is due to-morrow from Bluff. Dunedin. and Timaru. She loads on Monday for Auckland, and sails via Wellington. The Kurow is due back from the north about January 12th, and sails the following day for Timaru. Oamaru. Dunedin. and Bluff. The Re-gulus is to aa ; l to-day for Nelson, Westport. and Greymouth. The Breeze ;s to «ail to-day with cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. The Kaimanawa is due to-day from the rorth, and is to sail this evening for Dunedin. Visitors to Christchurcb and residents are offered a sea trip by the steamer Maori to picturesque Akaroa harbpur, where a regatta will be held, on New Year's Day. There are numerous camping and picnic grounds within easy reach, and safe bathing for children may be had at the northern end of the town and Buckland's Bay. Tennis courts are available, and to those so inclined is the choice of numerous walks, from which they will obtain wonderful vistas of the green valleys, bush, and hills surrounding the placid waters of the harbour.
