Much ingenuity in the naming of their domiciles is shown by the campers whom the summer holidays have drawn to Kaiti beach, says the "Gisborne Timen." A clergyman expressed pacific sentiments by choosing the name i- Waikikaparau," while "Lazylotte" was evidently named in anticipation of that post-Christmas dinner sensation. "Arcadia" denotes perfection, but "Three Baked Beans" does not point to an abundance of good cheer. 'Divonia" and "Blue Heaven" have a suggestion of romantic nights beside a moon-silvered sea, whereas "The Six Knights" seem to suggest that the age of chivalry is not yet done. "Seldomynn" is not a name to encourage visitors. Under the devastating effect of poisoned wheat the pigeons of Featherston street, Wellington, are being killed. On one evening recently a passer-by saw three pigeons fall dead on the pavement on the corner of Brandon and Featherston streets. While it may be necessary to get rid of the pigeons, this person expresses the opinion that the poisoned wheat should not be scattered on the roofs until Saturday afternoon or Sunday, when there are few people about. As it was, one dying bird just misseil falling on a passing woman. The pigeons that were wont to haunt each "jutty, frieze, and coign of vantage" on the Wellington Town Hall have also been destroyed in this fashion,
