HEAVY RAIN FALLS.
DROUGHT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA BROKEN. (UKITZD PRESS ASSOCIATION —BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPXBIGHT.) ADELAIDE, December 27. Heavy rain fell yesterday over almost the whole of the northern portion of the State. Pastoral areas are reported to have had the best falls for years. The rain means the break-up of one of* the worst droughts in the history of Australia, extending over nearly six years. Falls of up to 3* inches are recorded. A train to Broken Hill was cancelled owing to washaways.
