PRIME MINISTER'S RESIDENCE.
NOT TO BE SOLD. [THE PRESS Special Serrice.] WELLINGTON, November 7. Applause greeted a statement by the Minister for Lands (the Hon. Mr Forbes) in the House of Representatives to-night that Hie Government had decided not to dispose of 260 Tinakori road. The question was raised by Mr Downie Stewart (R., Dunedin West) when the Supplementary Estimates were under consideration. Mr Stewart said he understood that early in the session the Acting-Leader of the House had promised to make a statement as to the Government's intention with regard to the Prime Minister's residence. He would like to know what decision had been arrived at, Did the Government still intend to dispose of the property ? Mr Forbes replied that when the question was last befare the House it was made quite clear that the opinion of members was that the property should not be sold. (Hear, hear.) The Government had decided to allow 260 Tinakori road to remain as a Ministerial residence.
