TEMUKA.

MISSIONARY UNION. At the monthly meeting of the Temuka P.W.M.U. the Bev. Mr and Mrs McNeur and members of the Pleasant Point branch were present. Mrs H. B. Fell, president of the Temuka branch, suitably welcomed the visitors, after which Mr McNeur addressed the meeting. The remainder of the afternoon was of a social nature, interspersed with musical items contributed by. the Misses Pearce (2), Mrs McFarlane, and Mrs A. S. Mclnnes. A competition arranged by Mrs Watson was much enjoyed, Pleasant Point being the winners. Golf. A large number of lady members of the Temuka Golf Club took part in the flag competitions on Saturday afternoon. Minn Johnston deposited the flag close to the 20th green and was proclaimed the winner. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Campbell and Miss j Taylor. Bazaar and Tug-of-War. The tug-of-war and bazaar was brought to a conclusion on Saturday evening in the Drill Hall. A feature of the proceedings was the baby show, in which there were four classes. Results: Girls, 9 months sand under, Mrs Cain's baby; 18 months and under, Mrs Geo. Phillips's twin babies; boys, 9 months and under, Mrs B. Brodie's (Bangitata) baby: 18 months and under, Mrs H. Washington's baby. Keen interest was taken in the tug-of-war. The Temuka Warriors won the heavy-weight, Mead (Kakaia) being second, and Temuka won the highweight, with Clandeboye second. Mrs E Marshall (Christchurch) is the guestNof Mrs G. Pierce.
