RICHMOND BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.

Mr J. Dougan presided at tne montniy meeting of the Richmond Burgesses' Association. The secretary reported that the chairman of the Works Committee of the City Conn cil, Cr. P. R. Cooke, and the City Engineer Mr A. R. Gaibraith, had inspected bridge* in North Riehmond. It was generally agreed that the bridge* required rebuilding, as they were dangerous to traffic owing to their narrowness. A member pointed eat that the bridges had been built by the Waimairi County Council many yean ago. The district had ainee grown considerably and the bridges did not meet present-day requirements. A school had been built near one of them and the bridge was a source of danger to school children. The aecretary pointed out _ that there was no provision in the roading loan for work on these bridges. It was decided to write to the City Council pointing ont the danger of the bridges and asking that some improvements be made. It was decided that a challenge eup be allotted for a district garden competition.
