CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE.

Markets were lively and firm, and there was a good turnover of Stocks on call on Saturday morning. Transactions, exelusive of vestibule business, included:— 25 National Bank of Australasia (£o paid). 300 National Insurance. 50 Goldsbrough, Mort. 350 N-Z. Refrigerating Co. (10s paid). 100 Christchurcb Gas. _ 50 New Zealand Breweries. 100 Staples Brewery. 50 Wilson's Cement. 1000 Winding Creelc (Is paid). Government issues held at late rates. New Zealand Breweries Bonds were stronger, with buyers at 28s sd, sellers at 28s 6d. National Bank of Australasia £5 paid shares dropped 6d, to business at £9 13s 3d, and further buyers at that price, sellers at £9 13a 6d. Other Bank stocks held at recent levels -National Insurance shares were fractionally firmer, with at los 9a, which was mid-market price, on closing quotations. South British - Insurance shares were weaker, with sellers at 65s 9d, buyers at 65s 3d. Goldsbrough Morts eased to 475, closing quotations Id on either side. N.Z. Refrigerating Go. 10s paid shares were fractionally weaker with dealings at 6s 10d and 6s 11<T, and further sellers at the lower figure, buyers at 6s 8d- Buyers of Grey Valley Collieries shares advanced their bids to 27s 9d, but sellers wanted 29s 6d. Christchurcb Gas shares showed recovery with business at 26s 2d, market closing 2d either way. New Zealand Breweries shares moved up to 85s 6d, buyers staying iri at that price, sellers asking 85s 7d. Buyers of Monte'ths Brewery shares raised . their bids to 21s 6d, sellers at 225. Staples Brewery shares remained at 535, sellers and business, buyers at 52s 6d. Buyers of D.I.C. Ordinary 10s paid shares appeared a"t 23s sd, no sellers offering. Wilson 's Cements were released at 445, and more were wanted at 43s lOd, sellers at 44s 2d. Winding Creek Is paid shares remained firm with dealings at 2s, and more were offered at that figure, buyers at Is lid.
