AEROPLANES FLY TO KAIKOURA.
MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGNS
For the purpose of enrolling new members for the Canterbury Aero CJ*l>. and to stimulate interest generally, Captains Mercer and Barlow, with Venn P. E. Climie (secretary) and D. Clive Crorier as passengers, flew to Kaikoura on Saturday, taking with them a large number of copies of Th» Pmss, which were delivered before 10 a.m., while other copies were taken from Kaikoura to Blenheim by service ear, thus reaching their destinations before noon. After circling over the town for some time the machines landed in a paddock on Mr B. Mackle's property, about two miles ont. Captain Barlow, in landing, struck a patch of water, which flew up in a shower of spray, but no damage was done. The visitors deemed it wiser not to return yesterday, at wai their intention, on account of the *or westerly gale. Ttoey expect, however, to be back for breakfast this morning.
