DEATH OF PRIEST. MELBOURNE, September 7. With a deep wound in his temple and a revolver elasped in his hand, tlte Rev. Father Rohan, who was in charge of St. Joseph's Presbytery at Penshurst, was found dead in bed. Australian Press Association. BURIED ALIVE. (Received September Bth, 6.6 p.m.) VANCOUVER, September 6. A so-called Indian fakir died tragicallv at Buenos Ayres. _He intended to tio the resurrection trick after having been buried for two hours. Upon disinterment he was found to_ be dead, the coffin showing signs of his frantic endeavour to break out. Evidently the assistant covered a secret air passage when he buried him.—United Service. Mr Bruce announces that Sir John Butters, Chief Commissioner of Federal Capital Territory, is not prepared "to continue in office after November 2. The Government intends to continue the Commission for one year, appointing Mr A. J. Christie, of the PostmasterGeneral's Department, Chief Commissioner, and Mr J. S. Murdoch, Direc-tor-General of Works and Chief Architect, second Commissioner. —Australian Press Association.
