BRIGHTON POWER-BOAT CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-ninth.: annual meetingof th« Brighton JPower-Boat Club w»« held in - the Borough Council, Chambers on Saturday, Mr S. Harrington occupying the chair. The balance-sheet, which shoved a credit balance of £7 18s lid, exclusive.of £24 paid into the new club house building fund, and the annual report, were adopted. Dealing-with the working of the club during the year, the president referred to the new bridge to be erected and to the club's strenuous efforts, which had been successful, towardsehsuring that the bridge would show a clearance at. high tide of six feet six inches. Curing the season the Drainage Board's-river-sweeper had done good service by clearing the river at the club's mooring to a depth of-four feet at low tide. This was very much appreciated. The sweeper worked under difficulties after passing the bridge on account of abnormal tides, and work ceased at Herring Bay, the sweeper being unable to make-headway in the sand. This was to be regretted. The boat-staging, thanks to an enthusiastic working-bee under Mr S. Harrington, had been considerably strengened. The secretary was instructed to writo to Mr A. W. : Owles expressing the members' regret at his present illness, and a wish for a speedy recovery. It was agreed that the . matter of holding the annual ocean race for the Owles trophy be left in the hands of the incoming committee. It was agreed-to open the season on October 19th.
