WAIHAO FORKS GUN CLUB.

Exceptionally good shooting was the order of the day at the last shoot of the Waihao Forks Gun Club, when there were a large number of competitors. Some good shooting occurred in the Western Cup match, of 12 birds. J. Christie, £>. Stowell, and S. Baker tied, each shooting all their birds. In the shoot-off Christie fell out at the 13th bird, but Baker and Stowell continued shooting well, Baker eventually dropping out at the 39th bird to let Stowell win. Baker, with the exception of two, got all his birds with the first barrel, Stowell being compelled to use his second barrel four times. This is believed to be s New Zealand record. Results: — Seven-bird Sweep—R. Yesberg (12yds), C. Hertslet <l2yds), J. Christie (12yds), R. Baker (15yds), and S. Dixon (12yds) sliot all their birds and divided the money. Thirteen competed. Nine-bird Trophy Match—Li. Gorman (18 yds), 9 birds, was the only one to «ecure -the possible, and took Mr Matheson's trophy. C. Hertslet (12yds), D. Stowell (15yds), A. Gorman (12yds), R. Yesberg (12yds), G. McCulloch (15yds), R. Baker (15yds), S. Dixon (12yds), and E. McDonald (11yds) tied for second place. In the shoot-off Hertslet . won Mr McKenzie's trophy (second) on the eighth bird, D. Stowell being third. Fourteen competed. , Waihao Forks Challenge Cup, 10 birds—-R. Yesberg (12yds). S. Dixon (12yds), W. White (12vds), D. Stowell (15yds). and A. McDowell (14vds) each shot nine birds, and in the shoot-off McDowell won on the 14th bird, W. White being second, and R. Yesberg third. Fifteen competed. Western Cnp Match, 12 birds—D. Stowell (15yds), J. Christie (12yds), and R. Baker (15yds) shot all their birds. In the shootoff Stowell won from Baker on the 39th bird, Christie dropping out at the 13th birc'. G. T. Smith (15yds), W. White (12yds), S. Dixon (12yds), and A. Gorman (12yds) ehot IX birds. Fourteen competed.
