w RESTRICTIONS LIFTED. The Council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society haa decided to remove all restrictions it) regard to bait fishing from the rivers in the ILaiagoi area, with the exception of the Mais Drain. On the motion of Mr <3. H. Lawrmce, it vu also decided to remove the restriction* oo the Selwyn and its tribetaries from mere bridge upwards. Mr Lawrence said that tie bad had it ley] —anted t* him that after a fresh, fish ran up is thousands into the pools, where the? remained until tbejr were taken by illegal means. Hand reds of tbem. he haa been told, were taken that war, and he woald rather see tfiera ceugfrt by angler? instead. Some discussion ensued on the question of restrictions in the Avon and it was agreed, by eight rotes to six, to remove all restrictions on the Avon with the exception of tike protected area through the town.
