A USE FOR SUMNER BATHING POOL.

TO tn hhtob of m rones. Sir,—As a resident of that delightful seaside resort, Sumner, may i draw the attention of the "powers that be" to one of tire greatest nuisances we have to put up with—via., cats. These nocturnal marauders make night horrible with their ceaseless caterwanlings, sleep being almost an impossibility, especially to tnvalids. Cherished flowers, etc., in gardens are much damaged bv the swarms of stray cats that nightly prowl and fight, and disease, such as hydatids, is encouraged by their visits to our strawberry beds and patches of lettuce Dogs have to be registered'. Why not cats, if only at a nominal fee? And cannot owners be made to shut up their pets at night? If some of our worthy Council lore would frame a by-law to deal with the matter, they would earn the grateful thank? of many sufferers. If the suggested new pool can be used as a watery grave for the dozens of "strays," it shall have my support.— Your* «to„ scffe rer. August 6th, 1929.
