Gough, a married man, aged about SO jean, collapsed and died within a tvw minutes at about nine o'clock to-nigfat. The concert was given by the ehair of Bt. Mark's Church, Bemuera, for the Missions to Seamen in the Navy League rooms, and Mr Gough, who had taken part in the opening choir number, issg a solo after a lapse of several items. He was seen to put his hand to his heart at the conclusion of the song, <mt in response to warm applause sang an encore number. While the applause was still at its height, Mr Gough left the platform. He was seen to stagger and he collapssd into a chair in the front row of seats. Members of the audience immediately went to his assistants *id carried him from the room- Mr Gough, who lost consciousness at the time •" his collapse, showed no signs of recovery and was dead on the arrival of Hie ambulance. . _ . .. Immediately Mr Gough collapsed, the chaplain of the Missions to Seamen, the Bov. H. K. Vickery, telephoned to several doctors bnt was unable to seeure their services as they were not at home. He thereupon telephoned the St. John Ambulance whieh arrived within nve minutes. The body was taken to the Auckland HospitaL Mr Gough, who had not enjoyed Hie best of health for some time, had b««n receiving medical attention for several months past. He rwided at Bemuera and leaves a widow and two children. He was a prominent member of tfc« choir of St. Mark's Chureh, with whieh he had been associated for some time. The remainder of the concert ptogramme was abandoned, the audience standing while the chaplain offered up a prayer.
