CHEERLESS HOMECOMING, MATAKITAKI WOM.W9 TROUBLES. Ono of the women refugee* from th» Matakitaki Valley, who with her family was in Christchurch for some time, has written to Mr# W. J. Hunter and gives some details of the rather cheerless homecoming she experienced. In the course of her letter she wrote that while the family were ab«ent in Ohristiburch some unauthorised persona helped themselves to some of the beddothes. They stripped one bed completely and took most of the clothes trom the other bed. The house was in a terrible state and the writer of the letter had done hardly anything else but clean up since her return. They had not seen their horse and all their cows had not been found. THE EARTHQUAKE RELIEF COMMITTEE. MEETING POSTPONED. The meeting of the Central Earthquake Koiiet Committee in Wellington, which was iixed for to-day, bat beeu postponed until August 14th.
