ARRIVAL AT LAKEHURST.

NEW YORK, August 5. The Graf Zeppelin made its second westward trans-Atlantic commercial crossing, of approximately 5331 miles, in 3 days 23 hours 23 minutes, against 4 days 15 hours 46 minutes, for the first trip of 6275 miles. The dirigible landed at Lakehurst (New Jersey) with 19 passengers and one unnamed stowaway, a crew of 40. and a cargo of merchandise and mails. Immigration nnd Customs inspectors first boarded the ship, after which the passengers descended nuietly before thousands of cheering spectators. The commander Dr. Hugo Eckener appeared pleased with the easy Jnnding at 9.53 p.m., and talked spiritedly with officials. The Graf Zepnelin will remain at the hangar until August 7th, when she will begin a round-the-world flight from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen. Tokio, Los Angeles, and Lakehurst, for a 9000 dollar fare. During the nresent visit. Dr. Eckener will consider plans for a round-the-world cruise in 1930. when the ship will visit the North Pole.—Australian Press Association.

[The Graf Zeppelin is 776 feet in length and 98 feet in diameter. It is driven by five reversible engines of 550 h.p. each fueled by "blue gas," and its maximum speed is more than 80 m.p.h. It cost about £ 250,000£- and is owned by the German people, the money for its construction being raised largely by public subscription. The Zeppelin's first Atlantic crossing waß made last October. Severe storms were encountered and the airship was slowed up while temporary repairs were made to one of the horizontal fins. The return trip was made at the end of the same month, the time taken for the 4450 mileß trip being 2 days 20 hours 46 minutes.]
