SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Miss Alma Blackler (Hazelburn) left last week on a trip to Ceylon. Miss Helen Paterson (Sefton street), who has been staying at "The Hermitage," Mount Cook, has returned home, Mr H. Elworthy and the Misses Bona and Cecil Elworthy, '' Craigmore,'' have returned from a visit to Christchureh. Miss Mary Rolleston (Le Cren's terrace) and Miss Evelyn Pinckney (Glenavy) left yesterday for Kurow. Mrs Mervyn Raymond (Wellington) is expected to arrive to-day to stay with Mrs J. P. Newman ('' Clovelly,'' Nelson terrace). Mr and Mrs A. S. Elworthy (Holme Station) have returned from Ohrisitchurch. Miss Tripp (Orari Gorge) and Miss N. Pinckney (Glenavy) are the guests of Mrs Henry Harper (Grassy Hills). Mr and Mrs W. S". Bond (Dunrobin, Southland) are the guests of Mrs Elworthy ("Pareora Cottage," Le Cren's terrace). Miss Nancy Bond is staying with Mrs Timaru Rhodes (Hadlow). Mr and Mrs Cheyne (Mosgiel) are staying at the Hydro Grand Hotel. Guests at the Dominion Hotel include Messrs G. F. Sise (Dunedin), G. Milsom (Chrjptchurch), and M. Tansey (Waimate). Arrivals at the Grosvenor Hotel include, Mr and Mrs V. S. Jacobs (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs J. A. Sim (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs H. E. About seventy small music and dancing pupils of Miss Violet Large were i entertained at her new studio, Colombo street, where the children enjoyed many games, and delicious tea. Items were given by Betty Faulder (violin solo); Beverley Main, Esma Hocking, and Pat Regnault (operatic dances); Daisy Kirmer (acrobatic dance); Doris Hurd (Pierrot dance) • Jean Calder, Mary. Minotti, and Molly Birmingham (Spanish Gipsy trio); Colleen Tallott (recitation); Daisy Kirmer (song); Thelma Stacey, and Margaret Simpson (recitations).
